Our ultimate aim is to help transform Australia’s youth employment system – so that everyone who wants a job, can find one.

We set up funding mechanisms to advocate for a more accessible and supported work-integrated social enterprise sector. We also encourage the leadership of bright social entrepreneurs to accelerate the growth of these market-driven models.

Youth Social Enterprise Hubs

Our dream is to create thriving social enterprise hubs across Australia where teams can work in close collaboration, sharing ideas and creating connections.

Our first Hub – based at TAFE Queensland’s leafy Mt Gravatt campus – is now home to the state’s biggest work-integrated social enterprise, Jigsaw Australia, as well as Mantua Sewing Studio, Hotel Housekeeping and Spring Services.

White box has a variety of space opportunities available in QLD and Northern NSW. If you are needing space to create employment opportunities for more than 30 youth then please get in touch.

White Box Finance

Most employment-focused social enterprises have difficulties accessing the capital they need to grow.

White Box can help promising work-integrated social enterprises access and secure appropriate capital through a range of creative options.

Sustainable Employment Loan Fund (SELF)

SELF is a target $50M fund providing low-interest, start-up loans to jobs-focused social enterprises with the potential to create more than 50 jobs.

It aims to fill the gap between philanthropy and mainstream financing, unlocking “the right capital at the right time” for businesses that would otherwise struggle to reach the next stage of growth and demonstrate:

  • Sustainable business models
  • Established markets and/or cash flows
  • Clear transition pathways to self-sufficiency

White Box will use this Fund to create one job for every $20,000 borrowed – resulting in 2000 jobs for young, overlooked and underserved Australians by 2025.

Payment-by-Outcomes (PBO) Contract

An innovative Australian-first financing mechanism for jobs-focused social enterprises.

What is different about a PBO?

A Payment-by-Outcomes (PBO) contract shakes up how Australian job providers are funded and provides ongoing support for overlooked and underserved job seekers at risk of falling through the cracks. Under a PBO contact, social service providers are only paid by the government when they meet agreed targets, for example, creating a certain number of jobs over a set timeframe.

Upfront working capital to deliver the program is funded by “impact investors” who loan social enterprises money and are repaid at an agreed interest rate when outcomes are achieved.
