Creativity in securing funds – Saltwater Club

WBE’s dedicated Indigenous Partnerships team provide support and expertise to Indigenous owned jobs-focused social enterprises. Saltwater Club provides First Nations maritime cultural heritage adventures and experiences out of Cairns and Cooktown in tropical North Queensland.

The WBE team supported this enterprise to secure flexible, patient working capital on terms not offered by commercial lenders. This included introductions to investors with strong networks and technical knowledge of the Australian tourism industry. Now, Saltwater Club is positioned to create more than 70 jobs, traineeships and apprenticeships with an 85 per cent Indigenous workforce over the next 7-8 years.
